Best budget 1TB external Hard Disk Drive

Now a days digital storage needs have increased a LOT. Due to the overwhelming increase in the use of digital means for capturing or producing data. Clicking photos from your mobile phones,recording videos,preparing presentation,recording songs and many more. All of them require a place to store.And not just that sometimes you need to carry it around......for that why don't you see for yourself which external hard drive you can use to do it in a fast and secure way. Seagate is a well known brand in the world of digital storage. Offering at a very affordable price range too with the high level of performance combined making it a go to product for all the people looking out to store their files , folders , songs , movies etc.

Some of my personal experiences with the Seagate 1TB Backup Plus Slim (Blue) USB 3.0 External Hard Drive.

Personal Experiences

1. Packaging

• Packaging of the external hard drive is quite good with compact size packet and no extra unnecessary packaging wasted for any sort of advertisements or some fancy show.

2. Built

• This external hard drive has a small form factor  not like the other big external hard drives and it is also light weight weighing only 159g making it highly portable as it is easy to fit in the gadget bags and pouches.

• The body of the hard drive feels like polished plastic with the logo and a light indicator when it is plugged to a computer.

• The polished plastic is not a fingerprint magnet which is a very good thing considering that it will be used often and having to wipe off fingerprints will be annoying.

• The backside has some textured finish limiting the textured part only for the enlarged logo.

• The edges are rounded and smooth  rather than having a sharp cut making the edges pointy.

• There is a proprietary  data transferring port given on one side (The side with light indicator).

3. Data Port

• It uses USB 3.0 connectivity so it is equipped with the recent standards of data speed transfers.

• It is also backward compatible with the USB 2.0 ports.

4. Data speed:

• The read speed are normal as per any USB 3.0 standards. There are no problems faced whatsoever .

• The write speed are however some what slow ....BUT ...There is a trick ...check it out in the Tricks point.

5. Data Cable:

• The data cable included is nothing fancy but it is long about 18inches long compared to the other brands.

• The data cable is nothing special with braids or something ... it is made of thick PVC coating.

6. TRICK:

 Now the trick you wanted to increase the write speed of the hard drive is as below.

• Plugin your external hard disk drive and go to device manager from the windows 10 search menu.

• look for your external drive in the disk drive section

• Right click on your hard drive and go to properties and navigate to policies.

• By default Quick Removal will be activated , this means if you detach the device without selecting "safely  Remove Hardware and Eject Media" then too all the data will be safe and there wont be any data loss.

• But there is another option beneath it ...Better Performance this basically means that all the writing powers will be increased and in case there is power cut or you forget to choose the option "safely  Remove Hardware and Eject Media" before removing the hard drive there are chances of data loss.

• This can become a double edged sword ...it can increase the write speed but in case of any power cuts it can also lead to data loss so BEWARE.

7. Color and storage Options:

• There are various color options available for this product and not only that but there are also different storage options available.

8. Important accessories : 

• The most important accessory I think you should buy for your external hard drive is a good case preferably a Seagate case made for it just because you wont have to worry if it would fit properly or not.

• The case is strong sturdy and has a textured rough but good finish to it.

• has a good amount of shock absorption and protection .

• good padding from the inside and also a net provided to keep you data cable organised and preventing it from getting misplaced.

• The zipper is also of a good quality and smoothly moves.

9. Warranty:

• A three year warranty is provided along with the device purchase

11. OS support:

• This seagate external hard drive works with the Windows OS i.e Windows 7 and higher and for MAC it is OS version 10.10 and higher

Conclusion:

Considering that people have started increasing the use of digital media , I think having a good and fast storage capacity with you proves a very good thing for accomplishing your goals as you have your essential files with you all the time.  

Not only for professional work but to store your personal files , your memorable pictures , videos etc to feel nostalgic with your friends as you meet after a long time .

Portability  along with a small form factor that can fit anywhere is just a dream combination that goes hand in hand and people just find it amazing just like Seagate 1tb hard drive mentioned in this post.
