Sennheiser headphones or even the Sennheiser in ear earphones are a great hit when it comes to listening to music or even game streaming. The Sennheiser HD 206 is no different. Its a very well built headphone and has decent performance when compared with other well known brands like Sony , JBL, Jabra etc.
Physical Build :
1st let me make it clear that everything is made of plastic. But don't worry nothing will break on you so easily as even the budget end line up of Sennheiser has a reputation to hold.
- We will find padding on the inside of the headphones on the head band for comfort and that padding is also very soft and good quality.
- The ear cuffs are also well built for a budget headphone with adequate soft ear padding and a big ear placement to accommodate almost all ear sizes inside ear cuffs.
- The wires are 3 meter long attached to the headphones and are non-removable and are of a decent quality better than other cheaper wires which can stop working after some months.
- The wires have a sliding separator for ease of wire handling. At the end we have a 3.5mm TRS male pole gold plated connector.
- The ear cuffs have a slight tilt movement to them so that it can be placed against the ears comfortably without putting much pressure at an angle.
Performance:
The sound quality of this headphone is quite good. It does not have all the bells and whistles of a high end Sennheiser headphone but still it will get the job done no worries.
The bass is not that deep. Its ok but there are other headphones in the market who have higher a bass if that is your thing.
The highs are not that great I mean then are perfectly audible and distinguished but are not on point as I think that these headphones are not made for the high intensity purposes.
I listened to some classical music as it involves a lot of instruments and I was able to recognise all of them, then I realised that this is where this Sennheiser HD 206 headphone shines. This is made for light music and audio. Hard music and deep base is not its forte.
Other thing that I realised is that even at full volume, the sound coming out of the headphone is not unbearable. Its not that great or performance rich but one can listen to it without having to remove the headphones or lower the volume.
Comfort :
- Comfort wise the Sennheiser HD 206 is very good not pressure on the ears whatsoever.
- Ears completely fit inside the ear cuffs which eliminates any heating of the ears.
- Soft padding on the head band for more comfort of the wearer and ensuring that one can put these headphones on for a long period of time like for meetings or just relaxing and listening to music or watching videos.
Pros :
- Very comfortable
- Decent Sound quality
- Affordable price
- Strong 3.5mm Gold plated connector
- long wire length for long connectivity
- Large ear accommodation cuffs for comfortable ear fit
- 2 years warranty
Cons:
- No inbuilt mic.
- completely made of plastic
- Low Bass and low performance in high pitched and intensity songs.
Conclusion :
As per my use case with the Sennheiser HD 206 headphones its evident that these headphones are for those who want a simple less hassle just plug and play type no fancy things like noise cancelling or isolation however it does provide some passive noise reduction but not that much. It performs well in places where it has to output soft music like classical , vocals , soft acoustics , soft instruments etc. You can also wear it to watch movies and somewhat for streaming too but there are other options which are better and cheaper. It can be worn for long hours as it is very much comfortable.
If you are a person who listens to a lot of high pitch and Bass songs and music like EDMs , Trans etc, then you should look out for other options as they the Sennheiser HD 206 will not make you happy.
